Green School
Use less energy and be cool, you'll save the environment and the school.
We have reduced our electricity usage in the school by 20% since this time last year!
We have reduced our gas usage by 40 % since this time last year!
School Inspection: On 26 November 2013, Dara Wyer from Kildare County Council carried out our renewal visit. Dara reviewed all our work so far and was very impressed with the amount of energy we are saving in the school. We have now applied for our second green flag and are awaiting news from the Green Schools Programme.
Replacement of first flag: Unfortunately our first green flag had been destroyed by strong winds but we replaced it and it is back on our flagpole outside the school.
Fundraiser.ie: We collected mobile phones and clothes for recycling on Tuesday 5th March 2013. It was a huge success and thanks to all the children and parents who contributed.
Green Schools Code: Ashleigh Wilde won our Green Schools Code competition with her catchy slogan:
“Use less energy and be cool, you’ll save the environment and the school.”
We had lots of brilliant entries and thank you to all those who took part. It was very hard to choose, and unfortunately not everyone could receive a prize.
Spring Clean: We only collected 6 full refuse sacks throughout the whole school.
This shows how well we are maintaining our first flag for litter and waste.
Energy Free Morning: We had our energy free morning on 5 June, it was a great success and well done to everyone who did their part to conserve energy. We only used 0.1 kwh for the whole morning.
To find out more keep an eye on our notice board in the small hall!
