The School in Brief

Scoil Mochua opened in September 1985 in two prefabs with 49 pupils and two teachers - Mr Doohan and Ms Farrell.

During the year the 16 classroom school was built and occupied in September 1986. The school was officially opened by the then Minister for Education Mary O' Rourke in 1987.

The school population grew rapidly in the following years and a new extension comprising 6 classrooms and a gymnasium was added in 2004. The children's play area and the grounds around the school were also significantly enhanced during the build. The official opening ceremony was performed by the Tanaiste and Minister for Health and Children, Mary Harney.

In 2009, we bid farewell to Mr Doohan as he retired.  Mr Ryan took over as principal, with Ms Farrell continuing as Deputy Principal until Christmas 2011 when she too retired.

Ms. Thérèse Shortall is now our Deputy Principal and Ms. Catherine Carragher is our new Principal.

In 2011, three classrooms were added to the senior corridor and in 2015 a further 3 resource rooms were added.

Current accommodation comprises 24 classrooms, 7 resource rooms, a computer room, a general purpose hall and a gymnasium.
