June Activity Challenge
During the month of June your teachers will assign plenty of fun activities and sporting challenges for you to participate in. We'd love to read all about them, so we've created a Padlet (see button below) where you can post about what you've been doing.
A lot of you are out walking, cycling and jogging around Celbridge. Why don't you type in where you went on your activity or how long it took you?
Some of you are busy raising money for charity, we'd love to hear about that too.

Mining for chocolate chips
In science we learned about the earth's non-renewable resources and how extracting those resources through mining and fracking can destroy the earth. Our teacher challenged us to extract chocolate chips (non-renewable resources) from cookies without destroying the cookie (the earth). Those of us that protected our cookie (planet earth) then got to eat them, yummy!!
spaghetti tower challenge.
AS part of our STEM activities our teacher challenged us to build the tallest spaghetti tower possible from 10 sticks of spaghetti and a piece of playdough. It was tough!!!
TEam Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal
We gave shoeboxes full of gifts to children less fortunate than ourselves. It feels really good to give!
We visited Tea Lane Graveyard
As part of our history studies we learned about the Early Christian Period in Ireland and visited the church of St. Mochua in Tea Lane Graveyard.
We made models of Early Christian MOnasteries from recyclable materials.
Learning all about our school garden
We love getting out into our school garden to learn about all the herbs, vegetables and flowers that Tom is growing.
collaborating on our TRansport Projects
As part of our geography studies we learned about different modes of transport and how transport has changed over time. We even watched a video about transport in the future, now that's exciting!
We then worked in groups to research different modes of transport - past and present - and produced these collaborative projects. Our teacher was very impressed with our work. What do you think?

Working on our Viking Projects
We really enjoyed learning about the Vikings and worked in groups to research an aspect of Viking life. We then presented our projects to the rest of the class. We love getting a chance to be the teacher and see who's been listening when we challenge them with lots of questions.
We finished off our Viking studies with a class drama where we re-enacted the Vikings attacking a monastery. Those Vikings were brutal, we're not surprised the monks had to build round towers for protection.

Our visit to Maynooth Castle
Our local history is so important to us and we were lucky enough to receive a guided tour of Maynooth Castle. Did you know that the castle dates back to the 12th century? It was home to the Fitzmaurice and Fitzgerald family who were the Earls of Leinster.
Problem solving using IZAK 9 cubes
We like nothing more than getting immersed in problem-solving. Working with Izak 9 gives us so many different problems to solve whilst also having lots of fun and a whole lot of learning.
